Organize a Wedding Reception Timeline in 3 Parts

Having your wedding timeline in details will most certainly guarantee quality time at your wedding, for both you and your guests. Such timelines are important due to many reasons, of which the most crucial is avoiding any misunderstandings and additional questions regarding the first dance, cake cutting, a welcome speech, the bouquet toss, etc.

Whether you opt for a traditional or a garden wedding, the first step is to decide how long the party will last. Usually the party does not last more than four hours, and in this period of time you can manage to spend some quality time with your friends and family. Even though it may be a professional wedding venue (here's the website that belongs to a wedding venue site in Sydney just to illustrate what I'm thinking) sometimes you feel the need to organize it yourself.

Divide your timeline in three parts, according to some of the main elements of the party: dinner, the cake and the bouquet toss.

Time before dinner

This part of the wedding is in a way an introduction to the party and does not last more than half an hour. If your guests are mostly families with children, this is the part when you decide on the starting hour. You should have in mind that children can be wedding hijackers if you do not respect their needs and wishes. If you decide to start later than usually, let's say around 8 p.m. or even later, you should provide an accommodation and babysitters for the little ones because they will not keep up with the party, moreover, they probably will not even taste the cake. If your budget is limited, you should probably start earlier, around 6 p.m. For the purpose of this article, I will create a timeline starting from 7 p.m.

This is what the first part of the party should have:
07:00 p.m. Guest are entering the reception.
07:15 p.m. Emcee or the host of the party should introduce the wedding party, usually starting with your parents.
07:20 p.m. You will have your first dance.
07:25 p.m. Best man is giving the toast, or a welcome speech
07:30 p.m. Dinner is served. You can have either the host or the best man invite the guest to take their seats.

Time after dinner

Music is very important for any wedding and this is the part when you should party. Moreover, think carefully about the music and according to your guests age or music taste choose your band or DJ, or both.

08:00 p.m. Music set to open the party for the guests who finished their dinner
08:30 p.m. Time reserved for a father-daughter and mother-son dance.
08:35 p.m. Set of some upbeat songs, usually the most popular ones.
08:45 p.m. Introduction to a set of slow songs for couples
09:00 p.m. Set of more upbeat songs
09:30 p.m. The music volume decreased and the cake cutting

Time after cake

After the cake, the party should revolve around the bouquet toss and the last dance.

09:45 p.m. Guests are seated for cake.
10:00 p.m. The host should invite for the bouquet toss.
10:10 p.m. After the toss, it is time for the final dance.
11:30 p.m. The party is over with the last dance and your grand exit.

This example is just one of the ways how you can create a timeline, and as such can be a good blueprint for any wedding. Moreover, everybody can make his or her own timeline with the right instructions.

Fun Holiday Activities

When it comes to activities, there are wide selections to choose from. Hence, it’s really impossible to run out of ideas on what to do especially if you’re with your family or even your friends.

There are a lot of activities can be done especially during holidays. Horseback riding for instance, this activity is indeed fun and enjoyable. Aside from that, it is also good for the kids. But they must be accompanied by adults. But doing this kind of activity needs you to have your own tailored sportsman. But worry not, as there are some services which offer this for rent for those who don’t have their own yet. With that, fun and enjoyment with the family can definitely be achieved!

Parties can be Cheap!

Every holiday season is fun. There is something in the air that makes everyone put a smile on and just enjoy all the beauties that are all around. In a broader sense, all these occasions are dedicated for children, so that they can have something to look forward to and every parent feels the need to make this occasion as interesting as possible to their offspring, and this is only natural. If you are financially stable, then you have no problems, but, if you have a small monthly income and you are constantly worried about paying taxes, let alone about throwing a Christmas or a birthday party, how do you cope with the fact that your child is looking forward to this occasion and that he or she will be very disappointed if you don't? Here's what I would do. Instead of giving you classic advice you can find all over the internet, I'll give a simple idea to follow.

The first piece of advice that I am going to give you is: Don’t give up! A happy childhood has proven to be a key ingredient in the forming of a successful and both physically and psychologically healthy and stable individual. The next thing on the agenda is hunting for cheap, but beautiful decorations, and interesting gifts. Kids are kids so you can also explore your creativity and surprise your children with something out of the ordinary, so that they can brag about having a totally unique and a cheerful party.

If you have a boy, why not go for something that is related to Spiderman or Batman. Mickey Mouse is also in the competition, and, an increasingly popular theme is related to pirates, like the Pirates of the Caribbean, which is a favorite amongst children nowadays. If you have a girl, there is always everything related to Barbie, or Disney princesses and, of course, Minnie Mouse. Also, a theme that is very popular amongst little girls is Hello Kitty. You can also opt for a unisex theme, like a circus theme. If you have very small children, you can always use something like Thomas the Tank Engine themed party supplies.

Now, I know that all this sounds a bit contradictory, since most merchandise related to these trademarks can be very expensive. Why all this? Because these party supplies are discounted at Christmas.

But, you don’t have to buy a huge stuffed toy, or something similar. Look for various decorations like banners, balloons, and, also, table covers, swirls and even confetti that just have an image of your child’s favorite character printed on. If you look back at your own childhood and try to recollect how easy it was to amaze you, you will come to the conclusion that it, really, isn’t that hard to impress a child, and to make it happy. It has to be colorful. For instance, if you have a son, you can make everything around the kitchen table set with a Spiderman themed party supplies, and, in the living room, you have pirate banners and balloons, and everything was arranged by Santa, because he was very good the whole year. Add a simple but cheap cake  and together with this, you've got yourself a great party. This can have nothing but positive results.

Now, we all know that, no matter what is printed on them, these kinds of products are always cheap. But, the question that arises here is: If so, should you choose a Christmas or a New Year' theme? And, the answer to that question is very simple: You know what your child enjoys the most. You only have to make sure that you are incognito when you receive the package, so that the child doesn’t start asking questions. All in all, these holidays are meant to get families and friends together to laugh, eat, and spend time together. When the children are happy, involved and satisfied, everything is much, much easier, isn’t it?

Audio Book Download

I used to read books every evening before going to sleep. But that was about 5 years ago, when I still have the bedroom all by myself. Right now, with a husband and two kids, a full-time work and a household to manage, I just could not find the time to bring my paper backs within the vicinity of the bed room.

I also stopped collecting hard bound and paper back novels because of lack of space. But early this year, I was introduced to audio book download by my brother-in-law. I just bought my android tablet back then and I was eager to try new apps and maximize the use of my new favorite gadget. It was also then that I found out that I can listen to free audio books with my computer, iPod or mobile phone using an audio player.

So now I'm back to being addicted with short stories, poems and novels without the clutter. Audio books are such a convenience in this modern world.

Feeling the Holiday Blues

I miss my Tito Michael very much. He's my Mom's youngest brother and only older to me by three years so we grew up and went to the same school together. This year will be the second Christmas that he won't be able to spend with our family.

Two years ago, he left his job as a Machinist in a nearby rice milling company to work for Metalock Engineering in Saudi Arabia. Though I am sincerely happy that he is earning more money for the family now, I can't help but feel sad that he had to leave his only daughter under the care of his elder sibling. Like most OFWs, he had to find work abroad just to make ends meet as the compensation packages abroad are more attractive than local blue collar jobs in the country.

Yesterday though, we were able to catch up via Skype. He brought his laptop on site so while we're talking, I can see one of his colleagues working on a precision vise behind him.

I feel so much better after our conversation, knowing that though he's far from our family, he's somewhere safe and secure and always remember the family he left back home.

Cheers to OFWs in the whole world! Merry Christmas!

The Best Christmas Gift from Above

Christmas is the most celebrated holiday in the world, and definitely my favorite season! Back when I was a child, I remember doing a countdown as early as 60 days before Christmas. I loved receiving gifts from my grandparents, aunts and uncles and I always enjoyed shopping and wrapping gifts for my brothers and cousins with my Mom.

Every year is different but this Christmas is particularly special and memorable for our little family of three. We're now four! Our little bundle of joy, Samara Akasha or Kassy for short, was born on December 14, 2012, 9:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Medical Center via LCCS (Lower Cervical Cesarean Section). Her body measurements at birth are 33.5cm (Head Circumference), 33cm (Chest Circumference), 30.5cm (Abdominal Circumference) and 54cm (Body Length). She weighed 3.3kgs.
The Cesarean Section was supposed to be until four days later (December 18th) but contractions started on the evening of December 13th. I thought it was just the watermelon I had during dinner that night, but the contractions became more painful and frequent at dawn. I finally called my OB-Gyn Dra. Marlene Palilio 6:00AM in the morning of December 14th, when I'm really really sure that it's more than just Braxton Hicks. She ordered to go to the hospital immediately.

We reached the hospital at 9:00AM and before I knew it, baby Kassy is already crying her lungs out in the delivery room. With my first born and my first C-Section, I was put to sleep. But this time around, I was awake the whole time. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Martin Domingo was nice, documenting Kassy's first few minutes out of my womb with his reliable camera. He even showed me a video of Kassy crying while being bathed in the nursery. (Doc Martin gave me the printed souvenir photo the next day when he visited me in my room.) Everything happened so fast and I was taken to my room in less than an hour! The C-Section itself only took a maximum of 20minutes, and I think I spent another 30minutes in the recovery room.

The anesthesia made me dizzy though, I vomited twice while in the delivery room and one more time in the recovery room. It also made my skin itchy all over, especially my face! And even though the room was fully air-conditioned, I was bathed in sweat. All because of the anesthesia, the nurses said.

Anyways, back to baby Kassy, a Newborn Screening (NBS) was done on December 16th but we don't have the results yet. Please join my family in praying that the results of Kassy's NBS are favorable. Also, my baby did not pass the Otoacoustic Emissions Test or the Newborn Hearing Test and she needs a follow up test within one week. She's scheduled for a re-test on December 22nd. Again, I hope everything turns out well for my little girl.

How about you? What's the best Christmas gift you ever received?

Galaxy S3 - Exploring the Phone

Whether you turn on the TV, go to a basketball game, or spend an evening in a restaurant, you see someone with a Samsung Galaxy S3 in their hands. This phone has been the talk since the day it was released on the market. Listed below are some of the great features the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Body
The exterior design of this device is incredible, the creators really put thought into the design. The phone itself is so shiny that it looks like you put gloss on it. With the impressive 4.8in. display, it's very easy to see what you're doing on the phone. Also the phone is only 8.6mm, that's pretty thin for a phone of its size.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Operating System

The Samsung Galaxy S3 runs on the latest version of Android 4.0.3, which is great because you have all the new features for your phone. With this version of Android the phone runs very fast, and apps open nicely.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Features

The new feature call S Beam makes it easier than ever for you to share content with other devices. S Beam only works between Samsung Galaxy S3 devices, all people have to do is put the backs of their phones together and select the content you want to share. While having this feature makes it so much fun and less time to share things. Another awesome feature is the Pop Up Play, which lets people who were watching a video continue to watch it if it gets interrupted.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has many other cool features, so people should have fun exploring them all.

Apple OutDoes Themselves Again; iPhone 5 Is The Best iPhone Ever

It seems like every year when Apple releases the newest version of their popular iPhone the world stops for just a second and thinks “Wow, this phone is all that! There’s no way Apple can out do themselves next year”. But somehow a year later Apple manages to shock the world again and release an even better version of the iPhone. With 2012’s release of the iPhone 5 that observation has proven itself to be true for another consecutive year. Many didn’t think it was possible but the iPhone 5 has outdone the iPhone 4s in almost every area imaginable and rightfully earns it praise as the best model of the iPhone yet.

The iPhone 5 improves upon the tested iPhone formula in several areas that make it an all -around better phone, and implements several improvements to the iPhone 4s. The iPhone 5 will meet all you needs whether you’re a constantly mobile business man who needs to stay connected at all times, the most hardcore tech geek, or just a regular person who wants to browse the internet while waiting in line at Starbucks.

One of the most noticeable changes from previous models of the iPhone is that the iPhone 5 implements the LTE network to access online data. The LTE network makes the iPhone 5 drastically quicker than the already super-fast iPhone 4s, and is one of the first things almost all of my associates noticed after a few hours playing with the iPhone 5.

Physically the iPhone 5 has a number of small differences from the iPhone 4s. Most of these differences are for the better and make the iPhone 5 lighter and easier to handle than previous models; however some of them have received criticism and mixed reviews from some critics. On the positive side the iPhone is much lighter and slightly thinner than the iPhone 4s, which makes handling the iPhone 5 much easier and a more enjoyable experience. The screen of the iPhone 5 is also a half inch bigger than all prior models of the iPhone. It is my personal opinion that the larger screen makes the iPhone 5 easier to use and gives it a more hip and trendy look. However, some have criticized the iPhone 5’s larger screen arguing that it makes the phone much harder to use, and I could see how the larger screen could become a problem for a child or someone with small hands.

I didn’t think it was possible but Apple has outdone their selves again; the iPhone 5 is the best iPhone ever. Aside from a couple miniscule flaws in its physical design the iPhone 5 has improved greatly over previous models. All of the new features found in the iPhone 5 make it not only the best iPhone ever but one of the best smart phones on the market overall.

Tasmania, More Like A Country Than A State

Tasmania is an island off the Australian coast. The closest mainland city is Melbourne. The island is filled with rich cultural history and adventure. Nearly all Australians wish to travel to this local exotic getaway that is home to national parks, gourmet cuisine, sports, festivals and markets.

Adventure

Your first stop should be at the car hire to ensure you can explore all areas of this diverse island. Nearly half of the island is a national park. You will find any number of outdoor adventures in which to participate. You might consider kayaking or white water rafting down some rapids. You might consider an exhilarating cave exploration or a rock climb. You can go surfing, diving, hang gliding and off roading in this sparsely inhabited Australian state. Whether you explore the lakes, rivers, forests or sea, something exists for any adventure seeker on this island.

A Bit More Mainstream
You will also be able to find things to do and see that are a bit more mainstream. Just because this island is not geographically attached to mainland Australia does not mean it is lacking for refinement and desirable attractions. The people and chefs of the island are dedicated to cooking and eating seasonally and growing locally. You will have four different seasons to explore the culinary delights of the island. In fact, you will be able to meet the local growers at the Salamanca Market where you can sample everything from homemade chocolate to local vintages of wine. You will also be able to find a number of items created by local artists such as nature photography and wool products.

Tasmania is one of the most diverse terrains of Australia with the most opportunities in one small area. As you return your rental to the car hire, you will already begin thinking about a return trip.
This post was brought to you by the road travel enthusiasts at Skedaddle. If you’d like to know more about car hire in Tasmania, or another destination, check out their website today.

Get Back to Fat Loss Basics with the Eat Stop Eat Diet

The Eat Stop Eat Diet has become incredibly popular in weight loss and fitness circles and for good reason. This is a very simple diet concept that has a strong potential to actually work. Those that follow along with this diet will be able to shed off unwanted pounds and do so in a manner than is easier than believed.

Brad Pilon is the author behind the Eat Stop Eat Diet and it is his assessment that the best way to diet would be to eat reasonably, but fast once or twice a week. This will lead to a calorie deficit that would not be much different than eating a strict diet all throughout the entire week. So, if your daily calorie intake is 2700 calories, fasting two 24 hour days during the week would lead to cutting down 5400 calories.

This does not mean the purpose of the diet is to give the go ahead to eat a sloppy diet on the days you are not fasting. You should still eat a diet that seeks to promote health and wellness. However, if you do eat some less than desirable selections, the fasting will counter those extra calories.

The Eat Stop Eat Diet is rooted in the diet embodied by out ancient ancestors. Fasting was a requirement of the hunter/gatherers because they could not always acquire an adequate amount of food. Some days, they had to go without. This diet mimics those ancient days and does so in such a way that even someone with a great deal of stubborn fat can finally lose it.

This diet is a relatively simple one to take part in. All you need is the willpower to get through your fasting days and it will work for you. Giving it a try might prove to be the wisest diet plan you make.

How to Get a Job - It's Full-Time Work

Back in 2001, I left the security of a good IT job with a large home improvement retailer to for the promise of riches with an internet startup. Things were looking very good until three months later the venture capitalist pulled our funding and we were all summarily fired on Friday, April the 13th. It was then that for the first time in my life I was fired and taking unemployment compensation. I did what I normally did to find work: go to a job agency. However, I quickly noted the mood wasn't the same as it had been during the dot-com boom - there was stress in the air and it was palpable that a recession was underway. Therein, I learned my most valuable lesson on finding work: it's a full-time job. Someone had counseled me that unemployment is a job that bears no immediate income. I accepted that premise and spent ten to twelve hours a day working on finding employment. Here's what I did:

1. Drew up a list of everyone I knew in my field of work
2. Contacted them explaining what happened and asking for leads
3. Hitting all the job search engine sites and making application
4. Going through classifieds
5. Dropping in on businesses in the area to see if they were hiring

My day began promptly at 8AM and ended usually by 6PM in the evening. Indeed, my wife passed me by as I was working and said, "Finding work really is a full-time job. I can see that now." The process of putting in the hours looking for work helped me focus my energy on obtaining employment and helped me keep balance. In the end, I found work. My old team lead had a job-lead on contract work which he wasn't interested in taking and passed it along to me. The lead panned out and I was soon employed as a contractor which later turned into full-time work. The lesson I learned is that it is the mindset one takes which is of most benefit. Embrace the fact that looking for work is a full-time job and give it your all. For some, it may be the only time in your career that you are your own boss. The effort will bear fruit.

Acne-Free 2013 with Proactiv

My skin have always been prone to zits and pimples but for some unknown reason, pregnancy exempted me from having acne outbreaks for more than six months. But today I woke up with a nasty pimple under the lip area, and somehow I realized that the "magic" that made me immune to acne and other skin problems for some time is not working anymore.
It's true that acne cannot be cured but we can do something to prevent having them.  With that being said, I really feel the need to take care of my skin this coming 2013 and onwards. And as part of my lengthy list of New Year's Resolutions, I hereby promise to:
  • Stay away from greasy foods and eat more fruits and vegetables.
  • Keep my face clean and moisturized.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals that can trigger an acne outbreak.
  • Avoid touching my face and picking my pimples.

Aside from these, a sure-fire way to prevent acne is to use an anti-acne treatment system like Proactiv. It is a daily treatment program that works by unclogging pores and killing bacteria to reveal a clearer and brighter skin.

Proactiv products are known to heal pimples and blemishes and prevent the onset of new ones in as fast as three (3) weeks! How Do I Sell My Car?

I want to sell my car, now what do I do?

This is a common question asked by many car owners that have a car they wish to sell. They know that they want to sell it. They just do not know how to go about it. So, to help those out with this very simple process, here is a look at some of the most basic steps which can be taken to put a car up for sale.

First and foremost, you need the title to the car. You cannot sell a car unless you have the actual title for it. The title proves you own the car and when you sell it, you will have to transfer the title. If you do not have a copy of the title, then you need to order a copy of one from the DMV. This could take up to five weeks to process, but it has to be done.

In terms of putting a price on the car, you should look up what it would be the accurate resale price based on make, model and condition. Unless your figure is accurate, you likely will not field many offers from people interested in buying the vehicle. So, do the right amount of research first to determine the correct price on the car.

I want to sell my car, but how do I advertise it?

This is another common question that is asked. Among the best ways to advertise it would be to list a classified advertisement on one of the top car selling sites. This is where most people looking to buy a car will shop. Why not try and catch their eye with a decent listing? If the listing has well written and accurate copy, and it comes with a vivid photo, the chances are strong it will draw in responses.

How Capital Raising Helps Businesses

Capital raising helps businesses in many ways. Businesses go through stages. The most common stages are start-up, growth, maturity, and decline. No business can last forever - therefore, it is important that business owners learn how to raise capital during all stages.

What is capital raising? Capital raising is a financial process. Companies use various methods to get cash. The cash can be used for expansion, new services, hiring, or developing products. You can raise capital by getting loans, issuing stock, and by using profits. Cash can also be raised by friends, family members, and the owners' personal savings.

First, capital raising can be accomplished by obtaining bank loans. When companies are in financial trouble, banks can help them raise capital. The bank or financial institution will examine the financial statements. For example, Company A needs a $1 million loan. The bank may approve the loan if the company can confirm at least 2-to-1 asset coverage. The company should have at least $2 million in assets.

Next, companies issue stock all the time. This is one of the fastest ways to raise cash for a company. The business owner can offer “preferred stock or common stock.” These investors will own a percentage of the business based on how many shares they purchase. The entrepreneur can also issue bonds. When bonds are issued, the owner agrees to pay interest on a loan and pay the balance on a future date.

Finally, capital raising is also accomplished by using profits. When a business makes a profit, the money is be reinvested in the company. For instance, if Company B makes $2 million in profits, the money should be used to keep the company operating sufficiently. This is how capital raising helps businesses.

PhilRice Tower Lighting 2012

I still remember how I accepted a job offer from the Social Security System (SSS) Cabanatuan City Branch in 2005 only to find myself back at the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) again after a couple of weeks. Why? Simply because it's more fun in PhilRice! Haha. Too bad I had to leave my job there and decided to be a work-at-home Mom and Wife for my boys.

Anyway, PhilRice held its 20th Tower Lighting Ceremony last December 7, 2012 spearheaded by Executive Director Eufemio T. Rasco Jr. It's an annual event conceptualized by Dr. John C. De Leon in 1992. More than 500 guests troop to the main gate this year to witness the amazing fireworks display, the creative tower lights design and this year's new addition, the flying Chinese lanterns. The event also featured drum and lyre presentations by pupils from Maligaya Elementary School, a mini parade, food stalls and kiosks, "baratillos", garage sales, dancing and singing contests and a live band who played for guests until midnight.

This 2012, the tower was designed to highlight National Year of Rice (NYR) 2013 as declared by President Benigno Aquino III via Proclamation No.494 to enlist the support of farmers, consumers, and policy-makers in the country’s endeavor to be rice self-sufficient. The theme's slogan is “Sapat na Bigas, Kaya sa Pinas”. Very catchy, isn't it?

Below are some of the photos taken by Architect Rene Bajit during the event. (Thanks, Ka Rene!)

So, until next year... Merry Christmas and Happy 27th Anniversary, my beloved PhilRice!

Watch Television on Your Home Computer

Watching television on your desktop computer has never been easier and the shows you want to watch the most are often available for free right on the internet. Depending on the specific program, a lot of titles are readily available for instant streaming which will allow you to watch your shows at your own leisure and give you the ability to pause or rewind as you desire. In addition to the free options, there are also paid services that have a treasure trove of high quality studio films, television, and documentaries on demand for the ridiculously low cost of pennies a day.

Alternatively, if you are interested in free programming then you’re best bet is to head directly to the website of the channel that airs the show that you’re interested in. Most of the major networks, CBS, NBC, FOX, etc., either provide streaming service for many of their shows directly on their websites or they provide links to where those shows may be accessed. While you may not find everything that you are looking for using this method, it is the best way to enjoy free television legally online.

Lastly, if that cable bill is just eating too much money out of your wallet, then you can give services like Netflix Online or Hulu Plus a try. Both options provide a low monthly fee for usage and allows you to stream thousands of television shows and movies directly to your computer. Additionally, these streaming services can typically be accessed through all major videogame systems, dedicated hardware boxes like the Roku, and some newer model television sets. Both services can stream HD, have large back catalogues of thousands of seasons of television, and for less than 10 dollars a month a better deal does not exist.
